Success Stories

2012:

  • The Zimu Foundation journey begins with a dedicated group of volunteers.
  • Through the generous support of St. Anne parish community in Barrington, IL, funds were raised to buy new mattresses, bed linens, and mosquito nets, as well as to restore electricity and fix the window screens.
  • Patients’ health safety and healing environment was improved.
  • The Foundation conducted a baseline survey to qualify underprivileged children and women for assistance.

2013:

  • 20 vulnerable children receive educational support and school fees. They now attend school regularly.
  • A group of 15 destitute women receive financial support and training. They begin an income-generating project making baskets and mats.
  • Youth sport teams in the village are supplied with soccer balls (for boys) and volleyballs (for girls). Social and sport skills are being developed.
  • On July 4, we start on the construction of an additional structure to handle the overcrowding and to provide better healthcare services. This new structure will be big enough to have the maternity wing including prenatal, labor ward, and postnatal rooms; a surgical section, incubator room, and nurse/ doctor’s office.
  • We are not just building a clinic, but we are also creating jobs for the qualified but unemployed people in the area especially the youth. These people employed to construct the clinic are working diligently to survive and support their families.

2014:

  • The clinic’s walls go up and the roof is installed.
  • The Community Music and Sports program was launched. CMS is Zimu Foundation’s educational program designed and geared to character-building and leadership formation of underserved youth who will be the leaders of tomorrow in their respective communities through Music and Sports. For the last two years we have had hundreds of youths from eight villages participating in this program.

2015:

  • The Zimu Foundation is incorporated in the state of Illinois and obtains a 501 (c ) (3) status with IRS.

2017:

  • With your generous donations last year, we managed to buy and install in the clinic's doors and windows.
